A treatment plan, created for you.
Our goal is to provide a level of care that works for you. Before recommending any form of treatment, we’ll conduct a comprehensive assessment, taking into account your current situation, your needs, and what you’re comfortable with.
Our one-on-one (individual) counselling takes place in a comfortable and confidential environment. Our goal is to encourage an experience that feels safe and non-judgemental, allowing the individual to explore their personal limits and vulnerabilities at their own pace. Working towards a deeper understanding of the self as well as a goal-oriented approach to change will be supported by one of our qualified and compassionate therapists.

Back to topAdjusting to a sober lifestyle can be a daunting and difficult task. The Sober Companion and Mentorship Program at Lighthouse Counselling Centre provides additional support that many individuals need in early recovery. The therapeutic relationship developed with our mentors and companions is for those who can benefit from additional assistance and care in maintaining abstinence and ultimately reaching their goals in recovery.
Focusing on healthy living and lifestyle, our mentors, coaches and companions provide our clients with the necessary tools and steps needed to reintroduce important routines and habits into their lives. This includes healthy dieting, exercise, regulated sleep patterns, hygiene, mindfulness/meditation and many other practices and tools designed to help maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Our companions and mentors have a lived experience of addiction and now demonstrate a strong commitment to their recovery. Under the supervision of the clinical staff and having done the work themselves to stay sober, the mentor is able to provide counsel on best practices in early recovery and will help introduce individuals to a supportive and dynamic recovery community that they can be a part of.
Back to topIn this program, we provide education and support for family members and loved ones to better understand addictive behaviors and mental health issues. This is a space to learn and share experiences in a safe environment, where family members can heal together.
Knowledge, resiliency, and support help families and partners achieve sustained, long-term recovery for the ones they love.
Back to topLighthouse uses “stepped care”, an evidence-based approach that matches the right level of care to your unique needs and situation.
We use the Behavioral Health Index and/or the Addiction Severity Index as part of our comprehensive assessment. These invaluable tools help provide a foundational overview of where you’re at, and what your specific and immediate needs are.
Lighthouse has access to the online editions of these assessments, which are delivered via a secure website, so they can be safely filled out from the comfort of your own home.
Next, we conduct a private, in-person clinical interview, whose recommendations are based on ASAM criteria. This helps us address your needs, obstacles and liabilities, and determine your strengths, resources, and support structure. (You can learn more on the American Society of Addiction Medicine website).
From there, we create a treatment plan tailored for you.
We also have access to a variety of other online screeners and analysis tools to identify potential pathologies. These are not for the purpose of diagnosis, but used to shine a light on problems you might not be aware of. If a diagnosis is needed, can refer to our allied professionals to ensure you’ll receive the right specialized care.
Back to topWe are proud to offer intervention services in partnership with Hired Sobriety.
An intervention is a process where a trained counselor leads a group of family, friends, or co-workers as they confront and motivate an addict to seek treatment.
Our interventionists will prepare friends and family for a successful intervention as well as lead the intervention itself.

An important part of recovery is moving from anger to forgiveness. Our anger management program helps people with anger issues learn to process and express emotions in a healthier way.
Unresolved anger can be a common relapse trigger in recovery, particularly if it was anger that led to the addiction in the first place. Addressing anger issues during treatment is essential for successful long-term recovery.
Back to topWe provide aftercare solutions for treatment centers and for individuals coming out of a formal level of treatment.
Residential treatment centres provide a strong support network while you’re there. But when you come home, suddenly that level of support is no longer there for you. You may feel very alone.
Research shows that the longer your period of treatment, the greater your chances of success.
Our aftercare solutions provide the support you need to stay successful in your recovery. We focus on individual counselling, small group therapy, case management, “check-ins” (over the phone, or in short face-to-face sessions as needed), and anything else you might need to help get connected and re-integrated into the community.
Depending on your needs, we can offer intensive and semi-intensive outpatient counselling programs, and individual / couple / family counselling.
Back to topWe'll always act in our clients' best interest. While we’d love to be able to treat everyone in-house, we'll refer out if you’d benefit from a more specialized service.
We work closely with trusted professionals who specialize in different areas, and we appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of the different services out there.
Our priority is to make the best possible recommendations for you. We’re confident in the quality of care you’ll receive, whether in-house or through a referral.

We work with professionals to offer clients support and comprehensive treatment in addition to individual work being done outside of Lighthouse.
We encourage clients to maintain existing relationships with their therapist and/or case manager, while we offer a complementary program to support their overall treatment goals.
This collaboration allows professionals to retain their clients, while clients benefit from Lighthouse’s team approach through small group therapy, check-ins, and peer support.
